      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Ottorino Respighi's final completed opera, "La Fiamma," a masterful work that showcases the composer's genius and his unique contribution to the classical music canon. This three-act opera, based on Hans Wiers-Jenssen's play "Anne Pedersdotter," is a rare gem that has been beautifully preserved and presented by Hungaroton.

"La Fiamma" is a dramatic exploration of power, betrayal, and the human condition, set against the backdrop of a 16th-century witch hunt. Respighi's score, conducted by Lamberto Gardelli, is a rich tapestry of orchestral and choral textures that bring the story to life with vivid intensity. The opera's libretto, penned by Claudio Guastalla, complements Respighi's music perfectly, creating a cohesive and compelling narrative that will keep you engaged from the first note to the last.

This album features the complete opera, spanning over two hours and fourteen minutes, and includes all three acts in their entirety. Each track is meticulously performed, capturing the essence of Respighi's vision and the dramatic tension of the story. From the haunting melodies of the chorus to the powerful solos of the principal singers, every element of this recording is a testament to the enduring power of Respighi's music.

"La Fiamma" is not just an opera; it is a historical and cultural artifact that offers a glimpse into the mind of one of the 20th century's most innovative composers. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire. So, sit back, relax, and let the enchanting world of "La Fiamma" transport you to another time and place.
