      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Carl Reinecke's complete works for cello and piano with this comprehensive album, released on March 8, 2019, by Naxos. Spanning a generous 77 minutes, this collection showcases Reinecke's mastery of the cello sonata form and his versatility in composing shorter pieces.

The album opens with the dramatic and introspective Cello Sonata No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 42, followed by the bright and cheerful Cello Sonata No. 2 in D Major, Op. 89. Reinecke's later work, the Cello Sonata No. 3 in G Major, Op. 238, is also featured, offering a more introspective and lyrical exploration of the cello and piano duo.

In addition to the sonatas, the album includes the charming and varied 3 Pieces for Cello & Piano, Op. 146, which display Reinecke's ability to craft engaging and accessible music. The Arioso, Gavotte, and Scherzo offer a delightful contrast to the more substantial sonatas, showcasing the full range of Reinecke's compositional skills.

This album is a treasure trove for those eager to explore the works of Carl Reinecke, a prolific German composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher of the 19th century. His music, often overshadowed by his contemporaries, deserves a closer listen, and this collection provides the perfect opportunity to do so. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
