      About Alexander Melik-Pashayev

      Alexander Melik-Pashayev was a renowned Soviet Armenian conductor, composer, pianist, and pedagogue, born on October 23, 1905, in Tiflis (now Tbilisi). He began his musical journey studying with Nikolai Tcherepnin at the Tbilisi Conservatory and later joined the Tbilisi Opera. Melik-Pashayev's career spanned several decades, during which he made numerous acclaimed recordings with Melodiya from the 1940s to the 1960s. His contributions to the world of classical music were recognized when he was awarded the prestigious title of USSR People's Artist in 1951. Melik-Pashayev's work, primarily in the opera genre, continues to captivate audiences and remains a testament to his enduring legacy.
