A NEA Jazz Master, Liebman is renowned for his mastery of the soprano saxophone and his distinctive, atonal lines. His career spans over five decades, with roots in the cross-genre experimentation of the 1960s and 1970s, and a deep influence from the legendary John Coltrane. Liebman's discography is vast, with a prolific recording career that has solidified his status as one of the most recorded artists in jazz. His collaborations, particularly with pianist Richie Beirach and his seminal band Lookout Farm, have left an indelible mark on the genre.
