      Ole Mathisen is a Norwegian jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator who has made a significant impact on the international jazz scene. Born on February 13, 1965, in Sandefjord, Norway, Mathisen has established himself as a critically acclaimed artist with over 80 recordings to his name. His unique voice and virtuosic playing have led him to collaborate with a wide range of esteemed musicians, including Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, and Dream Theater, among many others. Mathisen's work spans various genres within jazz, with a particular focus on jazz fusion. He is also the Director of the Jazz Performance Program at Columbia University, where he shares his extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of jazz musicians. His latest album, "Floating Points," released in 2018, showcases his exceptional talent and innovative approach to jazz. With a strong background in jazz and a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, Ole Mathisen continues to be a prominent figure in the world of jazz, both as a performer and an educator.
