      Album Details

Hugh Bean, a renowned pianist with a rich and diverse repertoire, presents "On Wings of Song," a captivating album released on December 2, 2012, under the Carter Lane - OMiP label. This 47-minute collection showcases Bean's exceptional musical prowess and versatility, featuring a blend of classical and romantic pieces that span various moods and styles.

The album opens with Moritz Moszkowski's "Caprice Viennois, Op. 2," setting the stage for a journey through enchanting melodies and intricate compositions. Bean's collaboration with David Parkhouse on "Two piano pieces, Op. 45" adds a layer of depth and harmony, highlighting the synergy between the two musicians. The tracklist includes well-known pieces like "Estrellita" and "Hora Staccato," as well as lesser-known gems such as "Souvenir D'un Lieu Cher, Op. 42: No.3 Mélodie in E Flat Major" and "Zwei Klavierstücke Op. 45: No.2 Guitarre."

Hugh Bean's interpretation of these pieces is both sensitive and dynamic, bringing out the nuances and emotional depth of each composition. Whether it's the soothing tones of "Schön Rosmarin" or the lively rhythms of "Jota Aragonesa, Op. 27," Bean's playing is marked by precision and passion. The album also features a selection of songs for voice and piano, including "Six Songs for Voice and Piano, Op. 34: No.2 Auf Flügeln Des Gesanges (on Wings of Song)," which adds a vocal dimension to the collection.

"On Wings of Song" is not just a showcase of Hugh Bean's technical skill but also a testament to his artistic sensitivity and musical insight. The album is a must-listen for classical music enthusiasts and those looking to explore the rich tapestry of romantic and classical compositions.
