      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of classical guitar with Narciso Yepes' remarkable album, "Ohana: Concierto; Ruiz-Pipó: Tablas para guitarra y orquesta." This 1976 masterpiece, released under Universal Music Australia Pty. Ltd., showcases Yepes' virtuosic skill and deep musicality, accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.

The album is a stunning blend of two significant works: "Concierto: Tres gráficos para Guitarra y orquesta" by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and "Tablas para guitarra y orquesta" by Antonio Ruiz-Pipó. The former is a three-movement concerto that draws inspiration from Spanish flamenco styles, with Yepes' guitar weaving intricate patterns alongside the rich orchestral textures. The latter is Ruiz-Pipó's first concerto for guitar and orchestra, a work that explores a wide range of emotions and technical challenges, from the free and expressive "Canto libre" to the lively "Molto vivace."

With a total runtime of 47 minutes, this album is a testament to Yepes' ability to convey profound musical narratives through his instrument. His playing is both sensitive and powerful, bringing out the unique character of each piece. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that highlights the beauty and versatility of the classical guitar.

      About Narciso Yepes

Narciso Yepes, born in 1927 in Lorca, Spain, was a virtuoso classical guitarist whose name is synonymous with mastery and innovation. Often ranked second only to Andrés Segovia, Yepes' career was marked by his exceptional technique and his invention of the ten-string guitar, which he premiered with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1964. His rendition of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" became legendary, earning him international acclaim and a devoted following. Beyond his performances, Yepes was a scholar who rediscovered and transcribed numerous works, including lute pieces by Bach. His influence extended to film soundtracks, and in the 1980s, he formed the Trio Yepes with his children, blending music and dance. Yepes' legacy endures as one of the most outstanding guitarists in classical music history, celebrated for his artistry and contributions to the instrument's repertoire.
