      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of chamber music with Erling Blöndal Bengtsson's "Nystroem: Sinfonia concertante - Koch: Nordiskt capriccio, Op. 26." Released on November 1, 2014, under the Swedish Society label, this album is a testament to the timeless beauty of classical compositions. The album features the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stig Westerberg, delivering a mesmerizing performance that spans 38 minutes of pure musical artistry.

The album opens with the Sinfonia concertante by Gösta Nystroem, a three-movement piece that showcases the orchestra's virtuosity and Blöndal Bengtsson's masterful cello playing. The first movement, "Grave," sets a somber tone, while the second movement, "Allegro bucolico," brings a sense of pastoral joy. The third movement, "Lento," concludes the piece with a reflective and introspective mood.

The second half of the album is dedicated to Kurt Atterberg's "Nordiskt capriccio (Nordic Capriccio), Op. 26." This lively and energetic piece is a showcase of the orchestra's dynamic range and technical prowess. The capriccio's playful and whimsical nature provides a delightful contrast to the more serious and introspective pieces on the album.

Erling Blöndal Bengtsson, a renowned Swedish cellist and conductor, brings his extensive experience and deep understanding of classical music to this album. His collaboration with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Stig Westerberg results in a performance that is both technically impressive and emotionally resonant. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.

Erling Blöndal Bengtsson, born in Copenhagen in 1932, was a renowned Danish cellist whose musical journey captivated audiences worldwide. Hailing from a musical family—with a Danish violinist father and an Icelandic pianist mother—Bengtsson's prodigious talent was evident from a young age, debuting publicly in 1936.
