      Meg Okura is a captivating jazz violinist, composer, and erhu player who has made a significant mark on the music scene. Born in Tokyo and based in New York City, Okura's journey is as diverse as her musical talents. A graduate of Juilliard, she has collaborated with an impressive array of artists, from jazz legends like Michael Brecker and Lee Konitz to pop icons like David Bowie, and even actor/musician Terrence Howard. Okura is the founder and leader of the Pan Asian Chamber Jazz Ensemble and The J-Orchestra, blending her Japanese and Jewish heritage into her unique sound. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination with Emilio Solla y La Inestable de Brooklyn. Beyond her musical prowess, Okura has also been a featured violinist in Cirque du Soleil shows, showcasing her versatility and artistry. Her compositions, such as "Phantasmagoria," reflect her deep musicality and innovative spirit, making her a standout figure in the world of jazz.
