      Album Details

"Night Thoughts" is a captivating chamber music album by the accomplished pianist Dimitri Ashkenazy, released in 2014 under the Orlando Records label. This album is a testament to Ashkenazy's versatility and mastery, featuring a diverse collection of 15 tracks that span various compositions and styles. The album's duration is a concise yet engaging 1 hour and 5 minutes, making it a perfect choice for both focused listening and casual enjoyment.

The album opens with pieces from "Sonatina (1983)" and includes works from other notable compositions such as "Quodlibet (1975)," "Variazione Con Temi (1991)," and selections from Beethoven's "Sonata, Op. 110." Ashkenazy also pays homage to George Gershwin with "Three Etudes on Themes of Gershwin (1975)," showcasing his ability to blend classical training with jazz influences. The album concludes with the hauntingly beautiful "Cumha Craobh Nan Teud," a traditional piece that adds a touch of folk melody to the collection.
