Dive into the rich, soulful world of jazz with Milt Jackson's "Night Mist," a timeless collection released in 1981 under the Original Jazz Classics label. This album is a masterclass in hard bop, bebop, and cool jazz, showcasing Jackson's virtuosity on the vibes alongside a stellar ensemble of jazz legends.

"Night Mist" features seven meticulously remastered tracks, each a testament to Jackson's musical genius and his ability to blend blues and jazz seamlessly. The album opens with "Blues In My Heart," setting the tone for a journey through classic jazz standards and original compositions. Standout tracks like "Double B" and "Blues For Clyde" highlight Jackson's improvisational skills and his deep connection to the blues tradition. The title track, "Night Mist Blues," is a standout, showcasing the band's tight interplay and Jackson's expressive playing.

The lineup for "Night Mist" is a who's who of jazz royalty. Milt Jackson is joined by Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson on alto saxophone, Ray Brown on bass, Larance Marable on drums, Art Hillery on piano, and the legendary Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis on tenor saxophone. This all-star cast delivers a performance that is both dynamic and nuanced, capturing the essence of live jazz in a studio setting.

With a runtime of 46 minutes, "Night Mist" is a concise yet powerful exploration of jazz's many facets. Whether you're a seasoned jazz aficionado or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rich listening experience that celebrates the artistry of Milt Jackson and his contemporaries. The vinyl release, pressed on red vinyl, adds a touch of collectibility, making it a prized addition to any jazz enthusiast's collection.
