      Nelli Efimovna Shkolnikova, a Soviet-Jewish violinist born on July 8, 1928, was a virtuoso who left an indelible mark on the world of classical music. A student of the esteemed Lillia Kossodo and Yuri Yankelevich, Shkolnikova's unique teaching style earned her global recognition. She spent many years inspiring students at Indiana University, Bloomington, and her legacy lives on through the Shkolnikova Academy, a summer retreat dedicated to strings and chamber music. Despite never receiving international acclaim, Shkolnikova was regarded as one of the 20th Century's greatest violinists, captivating audiences with her exceptional talent and warm personality.
