      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Charles Darwin's discoveries with Mark Slater's "Natural Selection," a 2010 soundtrack that accompanies the immersive fulldome film of the same name. Composed by the talented British film composer, conductor, cellist, and pianist Mark Slater, this album is a breathtaking journey through the life and groundbreaking work of one of history's most influential scientists.

With a runtime of just under 30 minutes, "Natural Selection" is a concise yet powerful exploration of Darwin's theories, set to a stunning orchestral score performed by the Budapest Film Orchestra. The album features 12 tracks, each offering a unique musical interpretation of Darwin's adventures and scientific breakthroughs. From the hauntingly beautiful "Darwin's Mystery of Mysteries" to the triumphant finale "Island Worlds Across the Galaxy," Slater's compositions expertly blend orchestral grandeur with subtle, evocative melodies.

The album's standout tracks include "Panchreston," a hauntingly beautiful piece that captures the essence of Darwin's quest for a unifying theory, and "The Tree of Life," a powerful orchestral piece that symbolizes the interconnectedness of all living things. "DNA and the Cell" is another highlight, offering a modern twist on the classical orchestral style that permeates the album.

His ability to convey complex scientific concepts through music is truly remarkable, making this album a must-listen for fans of orchestral music, science enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a unique and engaging listening experience. Whether you're familiar with Darwin's work or new to his theories, "Natural Selection" offers a fresh and captivating perspective on one of the most important figures in scientific history.
