      Album Details

Vangelis, the renowned Greek electronic composer, presents "Mythodea - Music for the NASA Mission: 2001 Mars Odyssey," a choral symphony that transcends the boundaries of traditional music. Released on September 17, 2001, under Sony Classical, this album is a testament to Vangelis's unique ability to blend electronic and classical elements, creating a sound that is both timeless and innovative.

Composed originally in 1993 with the support of NASA and the Greek government, "Mythodea" is an epic work that features the collaborative efforts of two harpists, the 120-person chorus of the Greek National Opera, the 75-person London Metropolitan Orchestra, and a ensemble of percussionists. The album is a symphony of voices and instruments, each contributing to a grand, celestial soundscape.

The album's tracklist includes an introduction and ten movements, each named "Mythodea - Music for the NASA Mission: 2001 Mars Odyssey: Movement X - Voice," reflecting the structured yet fluid nature of the composition. The final track, "Mythodea - Special Edit," offers a unique perspective on the symphony, providing a different angle to the listener's experience.

"Mythodea" is not just an album; it's an exploration of sound and space. The collaboration with NASA for the 2001 Mars Odyssey mission adds a layer of intrigue and significance to the music. Vangelis's work on this album showcases his ability to create music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant, making "Mythodea" a standout piece in his illustrious career. With a duration of 1 hour and 6 minutes, this album is a journey through sound, space, and the human experience.
