      Ida Haendel, CBE, was a legendary Polish-British-Canadian violinist whose career spanned an astonishing seven decades. Born Ida Hendel in Chelm, Poland, in 1923, Haendel picked up her sister's violin at the age of three and never looked back. Recognized as a child prodigy, she went on to become one of the most influential and celebrated violinists of the 20th century.
