      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Miklós Rózsa with his remarkable album "Cello Concerto; Sinfonia Concertante." Released in 2015 under the Musical Concepts label, this album is a testament to Rózsa's mastery of orchestral and concerto forms. The album features two of his most notable works: the Cello Concerto, Op. 32, and the Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 29, each presented in three distinct movements.

The Cello Concerto, Op. 32, showcases Rózsa's ability to blend the rich, resonant tones of the cello with the full power of the orchestra. The Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 29, on the other hand, offers a more collaborative dynamic, with the solo instruments and orchestra engaging in a lively dialogue. Both works are expertly performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra under the direction of Barry Wordsworth, with Raphael Wallfisch and Philippe Graffin as the stellar soloists.

Rózsa's compositions are known for their intricate structures and evocative melodies, and this album is no exception. The Hungarian influences in his music add a unique flavor, hinting at what a late Bartók cello concerto might have sounded like. With a total runtime of 1 hour and 2 minutes, this album is a journey through Rózsa's musical genius, offering a rich and rewarding listening experience. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
