      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Felix Mendelssohn with this captivating album, featuring his Piano Trios Nos. 1 and 2, along with a selection of his renowned "Songs Without Words." Recorded in 1994 and released under Sony Classical, this collection showcases the brilliance of Mendelssohn's chamber music and his unparalleled ability to convey deep emotion through his compositions.

The album opens with the powerful Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49, a work that demonstrates Mendelssohn's mastery of the form. The trio's four movements, ranging from the intense "Molto allegro e agitato" to the passionate "Finale: Allegro assai appassionato," offer a journey through a spectrum of emotions. Following this, the Piano Trio No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 66, continues the exploration of Mendelssohn's musical genius. This trio, with its dynamic "Allegro energico e con fuoco" and tender "Andante espressivo," further highlights the composer's versatility and depth.

Complementing the trios are Mendelssohn's "Songs Without Words," a series of short piano pieces that are as evocative as they are beautiful. Included in this selection are pieces from Op. 19, Op. 38, Op. 62, and Op. 109, each offering a unique glimpse into Mendelssohn's lyrical and expressive style. These pieces, ranging from the serene "Sweet Remembrance" to the lively "Allegro non troppo," provide a perfect counterpoint to the more expansive trios.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 14 minutes, this album is a testament to Mendelssohn's enduring influence on classical music. Whether you are a longtime fan of Mendelssohn or a newcomer to his work, this collection offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
