      Album Details

      Frank Martin's 'Martin: Triptychon' is a captivating collection of compositions, released on 26 February 2008 by ECM New Series. This 57-minute album is a masterful showcase of Martin's work, featuring the 'Polyptyque' suite from 1973, comprising six evocative pieces: 'Image des Rameaux', 'Image de la Chambre haute', 'Image de Juda', 'Image de Géthsémané', 'Image du Jugement', and 'Image de la Glorification'. Additionally, the album includes the 'Maria Triptychon' from 1967/8, with its three beautiful movements: 'Ave Maria', 'Magnificat', and 'Stabat Mater'. Completing this stunning album is the 'Passacaille', a work dating back to 1944 and revised in 1962. With its rich and varied content, 'Martin: Triptychon' is a must-listen for fans of Frank Martin's distinctive and emotive style.

      About Frank Martin

      Frank Martin, born in Geneva in 1890, was a Swiss composer whose musical legacy continues to resonate in concert halls worldwide. As the youngest of ten children, Martin's upbringing was deeply influenced by his father's role as an influential pastor. Throughout his life, he spent significant time in the Netherlands, where he honed his craft and created works that have stood the test of time. Martin's compositions are celebrated for their emotional depth and technical brilliance, making him a pivotal figure in 20th-century classical music.
