      Album Details

Manfred Trojahn's "Streichquartett Nr. 2" is a captivating exploration of the human condition, presented through the lens of contemporary classical music. Released on November 15, 2019, via the esteemed label wergo, this album is a testament to Trojahn's unique compositional voice, blending intricate string arrangements with the haunting vocals of Tanja Ariane Baumgartner and the clarinet of Thorsten Johanns. The Minguet Quartett brings Trojahn's intricate score to life, delivering a performance that is both technically impressive and deeply expressive.

The album consists of seven movements, each offering a distinct atmosphere and narrative. From the restless energy of "Ruhelos" to the somber reflection of "Quasi marcia funebre," and the playful homage to Ludwig van Beethoven in "Bagatelle, scherzo frammento," Trojahn guides the audience through a rich tapestry of musical ideas. The inclusion of texts by Georg Trakl in several movements adds an extra layer of depth, inviting contemplation and introspection.

With a total duration of just over 55 minutes, "Streichquartett Nr. 2" is a compelling listen from start to finish. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this album offers a rewarding and engaging experience. The interplay between the string quartet, clarinet, and mezzo-soprano creates a unique sonic landscape, showcasing Manfred Trojahn's mastery of composition and his ability to push the boundaries of traditional chamber music.
