      Album Details

Luciano Berio's "Trascrizioni orchestrali" is a captivating journey through the world of classical music, reimagined with a contemporary avant-garde twist. Released on January 1, 2004, under Universal Music Italia, this album showcases Berio's exceptional ability to reinterpret and transcend traditional compositions. Spanning a little over an hour, the album is a testament to Berio's innovative approach to orchestration and his deep respect for the musical masters of the past.

The album opens with a lively and sincere homage to Henry Purcell, followed by a rendition of J.S. Bach's "Contrapunctus XIX" from "Die Kunst der Fugue." Berio's unique orchestrations continue with a layered and intricate version of Luigi Boccherini's "Ritirata notturna di Madrid." The album also features variations on the aria of Papageno from Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte," and orchestral renderings of three movements from Franz Schubert's "Fantaisie in C major for piano four hands, D. 934."

The second half of the album is dedicated to Johannes Brahms' "Sonata in F minor, Op. 120 No. 1" for clarinet and orchestra, with Berio's orchestral transcriptions bringing a fresh perspective to this beloved work. Throughout the album, Berio's avant-garde sensibilities shine, offering a unique and engaging listening experience that bridges the gap between classical tradition and modern innovation.
