      About Joan Chamorro

      Joan Chamorro is a versatile Spanish jazz musician and educator, renowned for his mastery of multiple instruments including saxophone, clarinet, flute, cornet, and double bass. Born in 1962, Chamorro's passion for music has led him to found and direct the acclaimed Sant Andreu Jazz Band, a project that began as a simple music class and has grown into a celebrated ensemble featuring young musicians aged 6 to 21. His innovative teaching methods have nurtured a new generation of jazz talent, making a significant impact on the music scene in Barcelona and beyond. Chamorro's own discography spans a range of genres, from traditional jazz and swing to bossa nova and big band, reflecting his deep love and understanding of the jazz tradition. In 2012, he was honored with the Premis Altaveu award, recognizing his contributions to the world of jazz. Whether performing or teaching, Joan Chamorro's dedication to the art of jazz is evident in every note he plays and every student he inspires.
