      Buell Neidlinger was a versatile and influential American cellist and double bassist, born in New York City on March 2, 1936, and passing away on March 16, 2018. A child prodigy on the cello, he studied with legendary musicians Gregor Piatigorsky and Pablo Casals. Neidlinger's career spanned both jazz and classical genres, with notable contributions to the free jazz scene. He collaborated with iconic figures like Cecil Taylor and participated in the premieres of works by John Cage and Igor Stravinsky.
