      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich, orchestral world of George Lloyd with his captivating album "Lloyd: Symphonies Nos. 4, 5 & 8." Released on June 1, 2007, by Lyrita, this collection is a testament to Lloyd's mastery of classical composition, showcasing three of his most compelling symphonies. The album spans a generous 2 hours and 45 minutes, offering a deep dive into the intricate and evocative works performed by the renowned Philharmonia Orchestra under the skilled direction of Edward Downes.

Symphony No. 4 in B Major opens with an "Allegro moderato" that sets a tone of serene strength, followed by the "Lento tranquillo" that brings a sense of calm and reflection. The "Allegro scherzando" injects a playful energy, while the concluding "Lento - Allegro non troppo" blends contemplation with a touch of vigor.

Symphony No. 5 in B-Flat Major begins with a "Pastorale. Allegretto con tenerezza," evoking pastoral beauty and tenderness. The "Corale. Grave" adds a solemn depth, while the "Rondo. Delicatamente scherzando" brings a delicate, playful charm. The "Lamento. Adagio drammatico" offers a dramatic and poignant interlude, culminating in the "Finale. Vivace," which bursts with lively energy.

Symphony No. 8 rounds out the collection with its own unique character, starting with a "Tranquillo - Allegro" that transitions from tranquility to exuberance. The "Largo" provides a moment of profound reflection, and the "Vivace" concludes the symphony with a vibrant, energetic flourish.

This album is not just a collection of symphonies; it's a journey through the diverse emotional landscapes crafted by George Lloyd. Each symphony tells its own story, weaving together moments of joy, reflection, drama, and tranquility. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or new to the genre, "Lloyd: Symphonies Nos. 4, 5 & 8" offers a rewarding and enriching listening experience.
