Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Henry Litolff's piano concertos with the album "Litolff: Concertos symphoniques Nos. 2 & 4." Released in 1997 by Hyperion, this collection showcases two of Litolff's most remarkable works: the Concerto symphonique No. 2 in B Minor, Op. 22, and the Concerto symphonique No. 4 in D Minor, Op. 102. Spanning a total of 70 minutes, the album offers a rich and diverse listening experience, highlighting Litolff's unique compositional style and virtuosity.

The Concerto symphonique No. 2 in B Minor, Op. 22, is a four-movement masterpiece that begins with a majestic "Maestoso," followed by a lively "Scherzo," a contemplative "Andante," and concludes with a spirited "Rondo. Allegretto." The Concerto symphonique No. 4 in D Minor, Op. 102, also comprises four movements, starting with an energetic "Allegro con fuoco," a rapid "Scherzo. Presto," a serene "Adagio religioso," and culminating in a dynamic "Allegro impetuoso."

Performed by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Andrew Litton, with Michael Ponti on the piano, this album captures the essence of Litolff's romantic and dramatic compositions. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to Litolff's work, this album is sure to enchant and inspire.
