La Harpe Royale - Andrew Lawrence-King

      Album Details

Andrew Lawrence-King, the esteemed leader of the Harp Consort, presents his debut solo recording, "La Harpe Royale," a captivating exploration of Baroque harp music. Recorded in the acoustically rich St. Andrew's, Toddington, this album showcases Lawrence-King's virtuosity and deep understanding of the historical harp repertoire.

"La Harpe Royale" features 22 meticulously performed tracks, spanning a diverse range of dance suites, preludes, and chorale preludes, each piece a testament to Lawrence-King's technical prowess and musical sensitivity. The album opens with the enchanting "Fantasie caprice de chaconne" and concludes with the poignant "Lamento sopra la dolorosa perdità della Real Mstà di Ferdinando IV," offering a journey through the highs and lows of human experience.

The album's genesis dates back to January 1996, with recording sessions held over three days. The result is a cohesive and immersive listening experience, with a total duration of 71 minutes and 54 seconds. Lawrence-King's performance is supported by the renowned Deutsche Harmonia Mundi label, ensuring the highest production standards.

Lawrence-King's interpretation of these works, originally composed for the harp, brings a fresh perspective to the genre, making it an essential addition to any classical music enthusiast's collection. The album's blend of Celtic and medieval influences adds an extra layer of intrigue, making it a standout release in the Baroque music genre.
