Released in 2015 under the Hal Leonard label, this album is a treasure trove of 19 exquisite sonatinas, meticulously performed by Jennifer Linn. Spanning a duration of 55 minutes, this collection showcases Kuhlau's mastery of the sonatina form, offering a delightful blend of technical brilliance and melodic charm.

Friedrich Kuhlau, a prolific composer of the early 19th century, is renowned for his contributions to the piano repertoire. This album features a selection of his most beloved sonatinas, drawn from Op. 20, Op. 55, and Op. 88. Each sonatina is a miniature masterpiece, crafted with precision and imbued with a sense of joy and playfulness that is characteristic of Kuhlau's style.

The album opens with the three sonatinas from Op. 20, each offering a unique blend of moods and tempos. From the lively "Allegro" movements to the more contemplative "Andante" and "Adagio," these pieces showcase Kuhlau's versatility and his ability to evoke a wide range of emotions through his music. The six sonatinas from Op. 55 follow, each one a gem in its own right, with the "Allegro con spirito" movements standing out for their infectious energy and rhythmic drive. The album concludes with the sonatina from Op. 88, a work that is both technically demanding and musically rewarding.

Jennifer Linn's performance is nothing short of breathtaking. Her technical prowess is evident in every note, as she navigates the intricate passages with ease and grace. Yet, it is her ability to bring out the lyrical beauty of Kuhlau's melodies that truly sets her performance apart. Each sonatina is imbued with a sense of warmth and intimacy, as if Linn is playing directly for the listener, inviting them into her musical world.

Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Selected Sonatinas" is sure to captivate and inspire.
