      Album Details

Discover the captivating world of Ernst Krenek's chamber music with the album "Krenek: Chamber Music With Clarinet," released on July 15, 2014, by Hungaroton. This exquisite collection showcases Krenek's mastery of the clarinet within the intimate setting of chamber music, offering a rich tapestry of compositions that span a variety of moods and styles.

The album features a diverse array of pieces, including the Alpbach Quintet, Op. 180a, a six-movement work that highlights the clarinet's versatility and expressive range. Each movement is interspersed with intermezzi, adding a dynamic and engaging dimension to the overall composition. The Monologue, Op. 157, presents a more introspective side of Krenek's work, with its five movements offering a journey through different emotional landscapes. The Sonatina, Op. 92/2b, and the Kleine Suite, Op. 28, provide a delightful contrast with their lighter, more playful character.

Additionally, the album includes the Invention, Op. 127a, the Trio for Violin, Clarinet, and Piano, Op. 108, and the Suite for Clarinet and Orchestra, Op. 148a. These works further demonstrate Krenek's ability to blend the clarinet seamlessly with other instruments, creating a harmonious and cohesive sound.

With a total duration of one hour, this album is a testament to Krenek's enduring legacy as a composer. Whether you are a longtime admirer of Krenek's work or a newcomer to his music, this collection offers a compelling exploration of his chamber music with clarinet, revealing the depth and breadth of his artistic vision.
