      Herb Jeffries, born Umberto Alexander Valentino in 1913, was a trailblazing American singer and actor who left an indelible mark on both film and music. Known as the "Bronze Buckaroo," he made history as the first African American singing cowboy in Hollywood, breaking racial barriers and paving the way for future generations. With his rich baritone voice, Jeffries captivated audiences with his smooth jazz ballads and became a celebrated figure in the genre.
