      About Hiroyuki Itoh

      Hiroyuki Itoh is a versatile Japanese artist, born in 1963, who has made significant contributions to both the music and gaming worlds. As a composer, he creates a unique sound language with microtones and iridescent chords, earning him the Akutagawa Composition Award and performances worldwide. Itoh studied composition with renowned mentors like Joji Yuasa, Brian Ferneyhough, and Roger Reynolds, and holds a Ph.D. in music from the University of California, San Diego.

      Beyond his musical achievements, Itoh is also known for his work in the gaming industry. He is a celebrated game producer, director, and designer at Square Enix, renowned for creating the Active Time Battle system and directing several beloved Final Fantasy games, including VI, IX, and XII.

      Additionally, Itoh is an entrepreneur and business developer, serving as the Founder/CEO and President of Onebloom Corporation. He is also the representative director of Crypton Future Media, the company behind the virtual idol Hatsune Miku, and a professor at The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics.
