      About Roland Pöntinen

      Roland Pöntinen is a Swedish pianist and composer renowned for his expansive repertoire and virtuosic technique. Born in Stockholm in 1963 to an Ingrian Finnish father and Swedish mother, Pöntinen's musical journey began at the prestigious Adolf Fredrik's Music School and the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, where he studied under Gunnar Hallhagen. His international career took off after his debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic at the age of 17, leading him to perform with major orchestras worldwide.

      Pöntinen's discography is impressive, boasting over 100 recordings on labels such as BIS, cpo, EMI, and his own label Haddock. His performances span a wide range of musical styles, from Bach to Ligeti, and include both well-known and lesser-heard works. Beyond his pianistic prowess, Pöntinen is also an accomplished composer, with notable works like "Blue Winter" and "L’éléphant rose" performed by esteemed orchestras and musicians.
