      About Svend Asmussen

      Svend Asmussen, affectionately known as "The Fiddling Viking," was a Danish jazz violinist whose career spanned an astonishing eight decades. Born in Copenhagen in 1916, Asmussen began his professional journey in 1933 and quickly became a full-time musician by 1937. His virtuosic swing style and charismatic stage presence made him a beloved figure in the European jazz scene. Asmussen collaborated with legendary musicians such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Stéphane Grappelli, leaving an indelible mark on the jazz world.
