      About Antonio Janigro

      Antonio Janigro, the legendary Italian cellist and conductor, left an indelible mark on the classical music world. Born in Milan in 1918, Janigro's prodigious talent was evident from a young age, leading him to enroll at the Milan Conservatory at just 11 years old. Under the tutelage of Gilberto Crepax, he honed his skills and went on to become one of the greatest European musicians of the 20th century. Janigro's career spanned both the cello and the conductor's podium, with his work at the helm of I Solisti di Zagreb, a virtuoso chamber orchestra, earning him particular acclaim. His extensive recordings with the ensemble are a testament to his artistic brilliance. Beyond performing, Janigro was also a dedicated pedagogue, inspiring generations of musicians. His rare cello recordings continue to captivate audiences, showcasing his extraordinary artistry and profound musicality.
