      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of Joseph Haydn's orchestral masterpieces with "Haydn: Sinfonien, Vol. 1." Released on May 3, 2019, under the Bella Musica Edition label, this album is a captivating journey through two of Haydn's most celebrated symphonies: Symphony No. 59 in A Major, "Fire," and Symphony No. 96 in D Major, "Miracle." Each symphony is a testament to Haydn's genius, offering a rich tapestry of musical expression that has endured for centuries.

The album opens with Symphony No. 59, nicknamed "Fire" for its fiery and dynamic first movement, "Presto." This symphony, composed around 1760, is a vibrant display of Haydn's early orchestral prowess. The second movement, "Andante o piu tosto - Andante," provides a contrasting, serene interlude, while the "Menuetto" and "Allegro assai" movements bring the symphony to a thrilling close.

Following this is Symphony No. 96, known as the "Miracle" symphony. This work, composed in 1791, showcases Haydn's mature style and includes the famous "Adagio - Allegro" opening, a hauntingly beautiful "Andante," a lively "Menuetto - Allegretto," and a spirited "Finale - Vivace assai." The "Miracle" symphony is said to have earned its nickname when a chandelier allegedly fell from the ceiling during a performance, yet miraculously did not injure anyone.

With a total duration of 45 minutes, this album is a concise yet comprehensive introduction to Haydn's symphonic works. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Haydn: Sinfonien, Vol. 1" offers an enriching listening experience that highlights the brilliance and innovation of one of history's most influential composers.
