      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of classical music with Maurice Gendron's masterful rendition of two iconic cello concertos. This 1960 release features Gendron's exquisite performances of Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major, Op. 101, and Boccherini's Cello Concerto No. 9 in B-Flat Major, G. 482. Gendron, renowned for his technical prowess and expressive playing, brings these works to life with the Orchestre Lamoureux, conducted by the legendary Pablo Casals.

The album opens with Haydn's Concerto No. 2, a piece that showcases the composer's signature wit and charm. Gendron's interpretation is marked by its clarity and precision, making it a standout performance of this beloved work. The second half of the album is dedicated to Boccherini's Concerto No. 9, a piece that Gendron was the first modern cellist to record in its original form, rather than the more commonly performed Grützmacher version. This recording is a testament to Gendron's dedication to historical accuracy and his deep understanding of the cello repertoire.

With a total duration of 48 minutes, this album is a perfect introduction to the world of classical cello concertos. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this recording is sure to captivate and inspire. The stereo version, released on the BNF Collection label, offers a rich and immersive listening experience. Don't miss the opportunity to add this classic recording to your collection and enjoy the timeless beauty of these iconic works.
