Haydn: Cello Concertos - Gautier Capuçon

      Album Details

Gautier Capuçon, the renowned French cellist, delivers a captivating performance in his 2003 album "Haydn: Cello Concertos." This album, released under the Warner Classics label, features a collection of Haydn's cello concertos, showcasing Capuçon's exceptional skill and musicality. Accompanied by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Harding, the album presents a harmonious blend of chamber music and classical genres, spanning a total duration of 1 hour and 5 minutes.

The album includes three of Haydn's cello concertos, each divided into three movements. The first concerto, in C Major (Hob. VIIb:1), begins with a Moderato movement, followed by an Adagio and an Allegro molto. The second concerto, in D Major (Hob. VIIb:2), features an Allegro moderato, an Adagio, and a lively Rondo. The final concerto, also in D Major (Hob. VIIb:4), comprises an Allegro, an Adagio, and another Allegro movement.

Capuçon's interpretation of Haydn's concertos is marked by a deep understanding of the composer's style and a sensitive approach to the music. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra provides a rich and nuanced backdrop, while Daniel Harding's conducting ensures a cohesive and dynamic performance. This album is a testament to Capuçon's artistry and his ability to bring out the beauty and complexity of Haydn's compositions. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a delightful and enriching listening experience.
