      Album Details

Richard Stoltzman's "Hark!" is a captivating 1992 release that beautifully blends chamber music and contemporary jazz, creating a unique and enchanting Christmas experience. This album, featuring 15 tracks, offers a delightful mix of familiar holiday classics and lesser-known gems, all masterfully arranged and performed by the renowned clarinetist Richard Stoltzman.

The album opens with the lively "Ding Dong!" and takes you on a journey through beloved carols such as "Silent Night," "O Holy Night," and "Deck the Halls," as well as more intricate pieces like "There is No Rose" from Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols" and "He Shall Feed His Flock" from Handel's "Messiah." Stoltzman's virtuosic playing is complemented by the Harlem Boys Choir on several tracks, adding a touch of vocal harmony to the instrumental arrangements.
