      About Eugene Goossens

      Sir Eugene Aynsley Goossens, a prominent English conductor and composer of the 20th century, left an indelible mark on the classical music world. Born in London in 1893, Goossens began his musical journey at a young age, eventually becoming a renowned violinist before transitioning to conducting. He served as the first permanent conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra from 1923 to 1931, showcasing his exceptional talent and leadership.
