      About Ron Goodwin

      Ron Goodwin, the celebrated English composer and conductor, left an indelible mark on the world of film music. Born in Plymouth, Devon, on February 17, 1925, Goodwin's musical journey began with piano lessons at the tender age of five. Initially pursuing a career as a trumpeter, he later transitioned to roles as a music copyist, arranger, and conductor for radio shows in the 1950s. Over his prolific career, Goodwin composed scores for over 70 films, including iconic works like "Where Eagles Dare," "633 Squadron," "The Battle of Britain," and the Miss Marple series. His ability to create memorable, evocative music cemented his status as a major British film composer.
