      Album Details

Dive into the enchanting world of Osvaldo Golijov's "Golijov: Oceana, Tenebrae, 3 Songs, Last Round," a captivating collection of works that showcase the composer's unique blend of classical and contemporary influences. Released on January 1, 2007, via Deutsche Grammophon, this album is a testament to Golijov's innovative compositional style and his ability to weave together diverse musical traditions.

The album opens with "Oceana," a mesmerizing suite that evokes the vastness and mystery of the ocean. The suite is performed by an impressive ensemble featuring vocalist Luciana Souza, guitarist Scott Tennant, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Robert Spano. The intricate interplay between the vocal and instrumental elements creates a rich tapestry of sound that is both haunting and beautiful.

Following "Oceana," the album presents "Tenebrae," a work that explores the darker, more introspective aspects of the human experience. The piece is performed by the renowned Kronos Quartet, known for their virtuosic performances and dedication to contemporary music.

The album also includes "Three Songs for Soprano and Orchestra," featuring the stunning vocals of Dawn Upshaw. These songs, "Night of the Flying Horses," "Lúa Descolorida," and "How Slow the Wind," showcase Golijov's gift for crafting melodies that are both lyrical and deeply evocative.

The album concludes with "Last Round: 2. Muertes Del Angel," a powerful and poignant piece that brings the collection to a stirring close. The entire album spans a duration of 1 hour and 7 minutes, offering a rich and varied listening experience that highlights the depth and breadth of Osvaldo Golijov's musical vision.
