      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless charm of Gilbert & Sullivan's classic comic opera, HMS Pinafore, masterfully presented by the renowned Richard Lewis. Released on December 26, 2012, under the Past Classics label, this album captures the essence of the Victorian-era theatrical partnership between W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.

Spanning a captivating 77 minutes, this choral and operatic gem is divided into three tracks that encompass the overture and both acts of the opera. The album features the Pro Arte Orchestra and the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus, conducted by the esteemed Sir Malcolm Sargent, providing a rich and authentic backdrop to Richard Lewis's compelling performance.

HMS Pinafore, or The Lass That Loved a Sailor, is a delightful tale of love and social satire, set against the backdrop of a British naval ship. The opera's witty libretto and Sullivan's enchanting melodies come together in this recording, offering a delightful experience for both seasoned opera enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Whether you're a fan of choral music or simply appreciate the artistry of Gilbert and Sullivan, this album is a treasure trove of musical delight.
