      Stan Getz's 'Getz At The Gate' is a captivating live album that showcases the tenor sax titan's remarkable performance at New York's Village Gate venue on 26 November 1961. This previously unreleased recording, unveiled by Verve Records in June 2019, features Getz at the pinnacle of his powers, accompanied by a stellar lineup consisting of pianist Steve Kuhn, bassist John Neves, and drummer Roy Haynes.

      This essential addition to the Getz canon presents a rare snapshot of the artist on dazzling form, with outstanding piano playing and Getz's signature saxophone sound. The album's 17 tracks, including 'It's All Right With Me', 'Wildwood', and 'Stella By Starlight', demonstrate the quartet's peak power and chemistry on the bandstand.

      With a duration of 2 hours and 19 minutes, 'Getz At The Gate' is an immersive jazz experience that embodies the spirit of straight-ahead jazz, modal music, and West Coast jazz. Getz's masterful performance, combined with the talents of his accompanists, makes this album an absolute must-listen for fans of the genre.       About Stan Getz

      Stan Getz, the legendary American jazz saxophonist, is renowned for his enchanting and velvety tone, earning him the nickname "The Sound." Born in Philadelphia in 1927, Getz's career spanned over four decades, leaving an indelible mark on the jazz world. He gained prominence in the late 1940s with Woody Herman's big band and became a pivotal figure in the cool jazz movement of the 1950s. Getz's influence extended beyond traditional jazz, as he played a crucial role in popularizing bossa nova in the United States with his iconic 1964 hit "The Girl from Ipanema." His discography is a testament to his versatility, encompassing genres such as bossa nova, cool jazz, and Latin jazz. Throughout his career, Getz received numerous accolades, including five Grammy Awards, cementing his status as one of the all-time great tenor saxophonists.
