      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of American classical music with Zubin Mehta's compelling album, "Gershwin, Copland, Bernstein and Kraft." Released in 2016 under the Mangora Classical label, this collection showcases the brilliance of the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Mehta's masterful direction. The album spans a diverse range of genres, including opera and classical, and features iconic works that have left an indelible mark on the musical landscape.

The album opens with George Gershwin's vibrant "An American in Paris," a piece that captures the essence of the city through its lively rhythms and evocative melodies. Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring" follows, a ballet suite that beautifully encapsulates the spirit of rural America with its pastoral themes and dynamic variations. Leonard Bernstein's "Lincoln Portrait" is another highlight, a stirring orchestral work that pays tribute to one of America's most revered presidents.

Zubin Mehta's interpretation of these timeless pieces is both insightful and engaging, bringing out the nuances and depth of each composition. The album also includes works by William Kraft, adding a contemporary touch to the classical repertoire. With a total runtime of 1 hour and 17 minutes, this album offers a comprehensive journey through some of the most significant works in American classical music.

Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, "Gershwin, Copland, Bernstein and Kraft" is a must-listen. Zubin Mehta's conducting prowess and the Los Angeles Philharmonic's exceptional performance make this album a standout in the classical music collection.
