Geri Allen, a celebrated pianist with a career spanning over two and a half decades, presents "Geri Allen & Timeline Live," a dynamic and captivating live album recorded in 2009 and released in 2010. This album marks a significant milestone as it is Allen's first live recording, capturing the raw energy and spontaneity of her performances.

Recorded at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio and Reed College in Portland, Oregon, the album features Allen's trio, Timeline, consisting of Kenny Davis on bass and Kassa Overall on drums. The seven-track album showcases a blend of jazz styles, including bop, post-bop, and contemporary jazz, highlighting Allen's virtuosity and innovative approach to the genre.

The album opens with "Philly Joe," a tribute to the legendary drummer Philly Joe Jones, followed by "Four by Five," a composition that showcases the trio's tight interplay and musical chemistry.
