      Album Details

FRKWYS Vol. 8 is a captivating collaboration between the space rock and krautrock duo Blues Control and the enigmatic zither player Laraaji, released under the RVNG Intl. label in 2011. This double album-length project is the eighth installment in the FRKWYS series, offering a unique blend of electronic, new age, and hard rock influences that create a mesmerizing soundscape.

Blues Control, known for their hypnotic and driving rhythms, bring their signature space rock sound to the table, while Laraaji, a longtime collaborator of Brian Eno, adds his ethereal and expansive zither solos. The result is a harmonious fusion of styles that keeps both artists' distinct characteristics in check, creating a balanced and engaging listening experience.

The album features six tracks, including the bonus track "Astral Jam," with a total runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. Standout tracks like "Awakening Day" and "City of Love" showcase the dynamic interplay between Blues Control's rockier instincts and Laraaji's soothing zither melodies. "Freeflow" and "Somebody Scream" further highlight the album's diverse range, blending driving rhythms with atmospheric textures.

FRKWYS Vol. 8 is a testament to the power of collaboration, as Blues Control and Laraaji come together to create a sound that is both familiar and fresh. Whether you're a fan of space rock, krautrock, or simply enjoy exploring new musical territories, this album is sure to captivate your senses and leave you wanting more.

      About Blues Control

Blues Control, the innovative experimental music duo hailing from Queens, New York City, and later based in Philadelphia, consisted of the dynamic pair Russ Waterhouse and Lea Cho. Known for their genre-blending prowess, Blues Control masterfully fused elements of neo-psychedelia, drone, hypnagogic pop, space rock, and krautrock into a sound that was uniquely their own. Their music, characterized by its eclectic and electronic textures, offered listeners a journey through uncharted sonic landscapes. Though they have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2019, their legacy as one of the most original acts in modern music continues to inspire and captivate.
