      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of classical piano with Lars Vogt's captivating album, "...for Children: Piano Works by Larcher, Schumann & Bartók." Released on June 15, 2016, under the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon GmbH label, this collection is a delightful journey through the works of three renowned composers, Thomas Larcher, Robert Schumann, and Béla Bartók.

Spanning a total of 60 tracks, the album is a treasure trove of chamber music and classical piano pieces, each meticulously performed by the acclaimed pianist Lars Vogt. The duration of the album is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, offering a rich and diverse listening experience.

The album begins with Larcher's "12 Pieces for Pianists and other Children," a whimsical and imaginative suite that includes pieces like "Sad yellow whale," "Cantabile," and "Babu Chiri's house." These compositions are followed by Schumann's "Album für die Jugend, Op. 68," a collection of 32 short piano pieces that are both educational and entertaining. Highlights include "Melodie," "Soldatenmarsch," and "Knecht Ruprecht."

Bartók's "For Children, Sz. 42" completes the album, featuring 20 short piano pieces that are both technically challenging and musically engaging. Tracks like "Playing children," "Quasi adagio," and "Children's Dance" showcase Bartók's unique compositional style and his ability to capture the essence of childhood in music.

Lars Vogt's masterful interpretations bring these pieces to life, showcasing his technical prowess and deep musical sensitivity. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "...for Children" is an album that will captivate and inspire.

      About Lars Vogt

Lars Vogt, born in the German town of Düren in 1970, was a renowned classical pianist and conductor who left an indelible mark on the music world. Vogt's journey began at the age of eight when he decided to dedicate his life to music, eventually becoming one of the most celebrated pianists of his generation. He gained international recognition after securing the second prize at the 1990 Leeds International Piano Competition, launching a career that saw him perform with prestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic.

Vogt was particularly noted for his profound interpretations of Brahms, as highlighted by The New York Times. His approach to piano technique was not about mere virtuosity but about expression, making his performances deeply resonant and emotionally engaging. Beyond his solo career, Vogt served as the music director of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris and the Royal Northern Sinfonia, and he founded the Spannungen chamber music festival in 1998. He also succeeded his teacher Karl-Heinz Kämmerling as a professor of piano at the Musikhochschule Hannover, passing on his knowledge and passion to the next generation of musicians. Vogt's legacy continues to inspire, reflecting his commitment to the art of music and his enduring impact on the classical genre.
