      Album Details

Dive into the captivating world of Louise Farrenc, a pioneering French composer of the 19th century, with this exquisite collection of her chamber works. Released on July 12, 2023, by CPO, this album showcases Farrenc's mastery of form, melody, and emotional depth through a selection of her piano trios, variations, and a violin sonata.

The album opens with Farrenc's Piano Trio No. 2 in D Minor, Op. 34, a work that immediately draws you in with its dramatic Andante - Allegro movement. The trio's second movement, Tema con variazioni, is a testament to Farrenc's skill in thematic development, while the Finale. Allegro brings the work to a thrilling close.

Next, the Variations concertantes sur un air suisse, Op. 20, offers a delightful change of pace. Farrenc's treatment of a traditional Swiss melody is both playful and sophisticated, demonstrating her ability to blend folk influences with classical structure.

The Piano Trio No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 45, presented here in a version for flute, cello, and piano, is a tour de force. The trio's four movements, from the intense Allegro deciso to the exhilarating Finale. Presto, showcase Farrenc's range and versatility.

The album concludes with the Violin Sonata No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 37. This three-movement work is a powerful and expressive journey, with the Largo - Allegro opening movement setting the stage for the introspective Poco adagio and the lively Finale. Allegro vivace.

Performed by the Linos Ensemble, this album is a testament to Farrenc's enduring appeal and the timeless beauty of her music. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this collection offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
