      Album Details

"Family Tree" is a captivating collection of home and demo recordings by the enigmatic English singer-songwriter Nick Drake, released in 2007. This album offers a unique glimpse into the early songwriting process of one of folk music's most revered figures, featuring tracks recorded in the 1960s at his home and in Aix-en-Provence, France. These recordings precede his iconic studio albums "Five Leaves Left," "Bryter Layter," and "Pink Moon," providing an intimate look at the genesis of Drake's distinctive sound.

The album is notable for its personal touches, including the appearance of Nick's sister Gabrielle on one track and the inclusion of two original songs performed by his mother, Molly Drake. About Nick Drake

Nick Drake, an English musician and accomplished acoustic guitarist, left an indelible mark on the folk and singer-songwriter genres despite his brief career. Born into a creative family in 1948, Drake signed to Island Records at the tender age of 20 while still a student at the University of Cambridge. His debut album, "Five Leaves Left," was released in 1969, followed by "Bryter Layter" in 1971 and the hauntingly beautiful "Pink Moon" in 1972. Although his albums did not achieve commercial success during his lifetime, Drake's introspective lyrics and delicate guitar work have since garnered critical acclaim and a devoted following.

Drake's life was marked by both talent and tragedy. He grappled with mental illness, and sadly, took his own life at the age of 26 in 1974. His music, characterized by its understated elegance and emotional depth, continues to resonate with audiences today. Drake's legacy is managed by Bryter Music, which oversees all matters related to his recordings, music publishing, and various media projects. His story is one of quiet brilliance and enduring influence, making Nick Drake a figure of enduring fascination in the music world.
