      Album Details

"Exotic Dances from the Opera" is a captivating orchestral journey curated by the esteemed conductor Eiji Oue and the Minnesota Orchestra. Released on March 1, 2012, under the Reference Recordings label, this album is a vibrant compilation of eight enchanting dance pieces from celebrated operas. Spanning a duration of just over an hour, the album is a testament to the rich tapestry of classical music, showcasing the prowess of the orchestra and the depth of the compositions.

The album opens with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's lively "Dance of the Tumblers" from "Snegurochka (The Snow Maiden)" and concludes with Camille Saint-Saëns's dramatic "Bacchanale" from "Samson et Dalila." In between, listeners are treated to a diverse array of musical styles and cultural influences, from the exotic allure of Richard Strauss's "Dance of the Seven Veils" to the rhythmic intensity of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Gopak" from "Mazeppa." The album also features works by Modest Mussorgsky, César Cui, Antonín Dvořák, and Alexander Borodin, each contributing a unique flavor to the collection.

Produced by J. Tamblyn Henderson, Jr., the album is a celebration of the operatic dance, offering a glimpse into the dramatic and cultural richness of these timeless works.
