      David Itkin is an accomplished American conductor and composer, renowned for his dynamic presence on the podium and his deep commitment to musical storytelling. Born on May 2, 1957, Itkin has made significant contributions to the orchestral world, serving as the Music Director and Conductor of the Abilene Philharmonic since 2004 and as the Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of North Texas College of Music since 2008. Prior to these roles, he led the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for 17 years, earning the title of Conductor Laureate in 2010. Itkin's repertoire spans a wide range of genres, with a particular focus on choral works. His compositions, such as the powerful "Exodus: An Oratorio In Three Parts" and the evocative "Ahab Symphony," showcase his ability to blend profound emotion with intricate musical structures.
