      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Einar Englund's orchestral masterpieces with this compelling album, released posthumously in 1999. This collection showcases Englund's remarkable ability to blend profound emotion with intricate musical structures, offering a rich tapestry of sounds that resonate long after the final note fades.

The album opens with Englund's Symphony No. 2, "The Blackbird," a three-movement work that masterfully balances intensity and delicacy. The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, under the skilled direction of Jorma Panula, brings to life the symphony's dynamic range, from the bold Allegro moderato to the hauntingly beautiful Andante molto sostenuto.

Following this, the album presents Englund's Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring the virtuoso Niklas Sivelov. This concerto is a testament to Englund's ability to create deeply expressive and technically demanding works. The concerto's three movements, each with its unique character, showcase Sivelov's exceptional talent and the orchestra's versatility.

The album concludes with Englund's Symphony No. 4, "Nostalgic," a four-movement work that explores themes of longing and reminiscence. The symphony's intricate compositions and evocative melodies are brought to life by the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, offering a fitting finale to this remarkable collection.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 16 minutes, this album is a testament to Einar Englund's enduring legacy as a composer. Recorded by Naxos, this album is a must-listen for anyone interested in exploring the depths of orchestral music and the genius of Einar Englund.
